EDITORIAL - GUNS N ROSES CANCELLATION OF VANCOUVER CONCERT

GUNS N ROSES concert to take place at the GM PLACE on
November 7th 2002 CANCELLED at the LAST MINUTE.
Concert was set to begin at 9:30PM. Concert was cancelled at 8:00PM by GM Place
managers learned Axl Rose was not even in Canada yet. So the concert was
cancelled a few minutes before all the fans where set to enter the venue.
RIOT = PUBLICITY
This is a no brainer, a last minute cancellation of a GUNS N ROSES concert is
the perfect recipe for a riot, and lots of publicity on all news channels and
newspapers. Whether it's good or bad publicity remains to be seen. Most news
sources just joke about it and can't stay serious when they talk about it.

PLANNED?
Could this have planned in order to get attention to their upcoming tour?
People did get hurt at the riot. Someone's going to have to pay for the damages
done to Vancouver's GM PLACE.. GNR will probably have to pay for it, just like
GNR had to pay for the damages done to the Montreal Olympic Stadium back in
1992. Makes someone wonder if the cost/benefit would really be worth it.
IRRESPONSIBLE
If this wasn't planned, it only shows the artist's tour promoters and manager's
irresponsibility. Listen, when you sell THOUSANDS of tickets to loyal fans, you
have the RESPONSIBILITY to show up. The plane's mechanical trouble excuse simply
does not add up. It's up to Axl's manager to arrange transportation to the
venue. There's just NO excuse for traveling at the opening concert for a tour at
the ABSOLUTE last minute. THE BAND REHEARSED ONE DAY BEFORE WITHOUT AXL ROSE WHY
WASN'T AXL THERE?
NO WAY TO TREAT THE FANS
Fans buy concert tickets, plane tickets, hotels, rent cars, etc, etc. Fans will
get their money back for the concert tickets (if the concert is not rescheduled)
less the administrative fees and money lost for their transportation and lodging
accommodations.
WHAT A JACK ASS
We still haven't heard the "official" excuse yet. Before you blame Axl Rose
(it's too easy to just blame Axl for this), you need to understand that Axl Rose
is an artist, not a travel agent clerk. He hires a manager which is supposed to
take care of every detail such as travel arrangements and he then hires a tour
promoter (in this case Clear Channel Entertainment). Axl's responsibility is to
sing, not to make travel arrangements. Being a REAL jack ass is when Axl Rose
left the stage in St-Louis (1991) and Montreal (1992)..
CONCERT SET TO BE RESCHEDULED
MTV reports the Vancouver concert is set to be rescheduled. It remains to be
seen if this will really happen. Fans in St-Louis and Montreal are still waiting
for their concerts to be rescheduled.
