Janet Jackson Cancels European Tour 10/01/2001
"If anything happened to anyone on this tour, I could never forgive myself," Jackson said in a statement issued in London on Monday (October 1), according to Reuters. "My European fans are among the most loyal, and I was very excited to share this show with them. I have agonized over this decision." Jackson "decided the risk to her large group of tour personnel is too great to proceed comfortably," the statement said, according to the news service. The singer's North American tour wraps up October 29 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, with the second of two shows she postponed the week of the attacks in the U.S. (see "Destiny's Child, Janet Jackson, Pantera, Others Cancel, Postpone Concerts"). The remaining concerts include several shows that Jackson postponed in July and August due to illness (see "Janet Jackson's Tour Itinerary Succumbs To Flu Again").
